Inclusive EA Dual-Credit Program

 

APPLICATIONS OPEN JANUARY 8, 2025


In partnership with the University of the Fraser Valley, the Chilliwack School District has developed a dual-credit program for students interested in pursuing a career as an Inclusive Education Assistant.

Grade 12 Students will have an opportunity to complete courses toward the Inclusive Education Assistant certificate, while also earning high school course credits. 

Tuition fees are covered by the School District. Ancillary fees, books and materials are the student's responsibility.

Students must be enrolled and completing English 12, and have completed English 11, Math 11 and received C+ or higher in English 10 and Math 10.

Students must have the intention to graduate with a Dogwood diploma  (B.C. Graduation Certificate).

Students that complete the Inclusive EA Dual-Credit program will be well-positioned to complete the Inclusive EA certificate, allowing them to apply for paid employment providing support to students with diverse needs in K-12 educational settings. Students may also choose to continue their studies towards completing a degree at UFV and eventually become Teachers themselves. Graduates can also consider continuing their studies in the area of community support or social services.


WHAT IS AN INCLUSIVE EDUCATION ASSISTANT?

Under the direction of classroom teachers and learning support specialists, Inclusive EAs provide personal care, behavioural and learning support. They facilitate meaningful inclusion, communication and social interaction. Inclusive EAs can support students with diverse abilities in elementary, middle and high schools in a variety of settings, including regular classrooms, learning support rooms, work experience sites, or in life skills training settings.
