The ability to design, make, acquire and apply skills and technologies is important in the world today, and key in the education of citizens for the future. In the ADST curriculum, students grow through the use of design-thinking principles. This approach helps them gain understanding of how to apply their skills to both finding challenges and solving them in creative ways, using appropriate technologies for the task at-hand.
ADST K-3
Embedded in regular classroom learning and activities. Focus is on integrated, hands-on learning.
ADST 4-5
Embedded in regular classroom learning and activities. Focus is on integrated, hands-on learning, using a common framework for introducing design thinking.
ADST 6-8
Modular delivery with a focus on exploring a variety of content areas (e.g. woodworking, food studies, computer technology).
ADST 9-12
Presented through a variety of elective options in the following areas:
- Business Education
- Home Economics
- Information Technology
- Technology Education (Industrial Arts)
